Fund raising for the 21st annual Milam Settlers Day has begun with two contestants competing for the title. One of the contestants will receive the title during festivities on Saturday, Nov. 23. Contestants include Aston Segrest and Sierra Medlock.
Sierra Medlock is the 9-year-old daughter of Shannon and John Medlock. She attends Hemphill Elem. School, where she is in the fourth grade and in the Gifted and Talented Program. Sierra has played softball for five years and basketball for one year. In addition, she has cheered for two years. A recent honor was winning Rodeo Sweetheart 2012.
Aston Segrest is the three-year-old son of Angela Buffalow of Milam and Randall Segrest of Lufkin. His grandparents are Donna and Brad Shirley and John Buffalow of Milam, and Pearlene and Paul Jacks and David Segrest of Lufkin.
Aston's accomplishments include: learning his colors, counting to 20, learning to swim, and riding a big-boy bike. His most favorite accomplishment, however, is learning to cast his fishing rod like a pro. Aston attends First Baptist Church Christian Preschool in Hemphill. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, fishing, swimming, riding his 4-wheeler and bike, and going to church. He is a very energetic and loving little boy who brings joy to everyone in his life.
Please support your candidate by participating in the various fund raising events that each one is planning. The candidates and their families will also be selling raffle tickets for the grand prizes to be given away on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the close of Milam Settlers Day Weekend.
